  15. I cup sifted flour..4 teaspoons baking powder. ..1 cup yellow cornmeal… 1 cup milk… 1/4 cup sugar… 3/4 teaspoon salt… 2 eggs…1/4 cup softened shortening
  16. Sift flour with, baking powder and salt, and sugar. Stir in cornmeal.
  17. Add eggs, milk and shortening
  18. Beat until almost smooth, do not over beat
