How to Make A Traditional Dorset Apple Cake. This is my version of Dorset Apple Cake based on an old sounding recipe I found online. I've converted it to metric and made the recipe more specific. This traditional British apple cake is fabulously moist with a slightly crisp topping.

Steps to make Dorset Apple Cake:
  1. Peel, core and grate apples
  2. Mix flour, ginger and butter / margarine together until it resembles crumbs
  3. Add sugar, apples and sultanas.
  4. Beat the eggs and add to mixture.
  5. Mix until well combined
  6. Grease and line a 2 lb loaf tin, pour mixture in, level top.
  7. Bake at 180C for 1 hour, until a skewer / toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in tin for 10 minutes then tip out on to wire rack to cool.
  9. Serve. Can be served warm or cold
  10. You can substitute ground cinnamon for the ginger.
  11. I use demerara sugar, but you can use white or golden.
